Préfleuri International Alpine School

About

Préfleuri’s solid academic education is based on the French and British national curricula for children aged from 3 to 13 years old. This offers the pupils a broad range of opportunities. Attainment levels are regularly assessed through internal and external national examinations (Delf, Cambridge, etc)

The teaching program is structured to guarantee entrance to top secondary schools all over the world. Préfleuri’s bilingual English French teaching program strictly follows the British and French national curricula.

The basics of vocabulary, spelling, grammar, communication and mathematics are strongly reinforced. The pupils thrive in an environment of kindness, team spirit and strong values.

The Program

Early Years

The early years programme is spread between two classes, based on the official French and British curriculum: Je1 is the equivalent to the French Petite et Moyenne Sections (Preschool and Pre-kindergarten), Je2 is the French Grande Section equal to reception in the UK.

Préfleuri welcomes children from an early age in order to familiarize them with bilingualism and the basic principles of community life.

The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and welcoming start to school life,  strive to create an environment specifically designed to meet the needs of each individual child.

Préfleuri offers an excellent curriculum providing first class Early Years teaching with an emphasis on a bilingual approach.

French Section

The French section of Préfleuri offers, in a caring environment, education to meet the academic requirements for transition to secondary systems in France or French-speaking Switzerland.

The French section rigorously adheres to the French national curriculum from CP (cours préparatoire, 11th grade, 6 to 7 year olds) to 6th grade (first year of collège or Junior High, 11 to 12 year olds).

Pupils learn their basic foundation skills through the primary curriculum and are well prepared to start their secondary education full of confidence.

All subjects are taught in French; in addition our pupils receive daily English lessons from the English teachers.

From the CM1 (cours moyen première année, 8th grade, 9-10 year olds), they are also introduced to German in order to meet the requirements of the Swiss program.

Qualified teachers, experienced in their field, provide instruction. Classes are small varying between 6-12 pupils.

English Section

The English section of Préfleuri offers, in a caring environment, education that meets the academic requirements for progression to secondary education.

The English section adheres to the British curriculum from kindergarten to KST3, year 7.

Classes are small, with 6 to 12 pupils per class.

All subjects are taught in English, in addition to which  pupils have daily French lessons, given by French-speaking teachers.

Children’s work is continually assessed to ensure maximum progress. At the end of KS1 and KS2 they carry out SATs (Standard Assesment Test). Results of these tests are transmitted to parents in the end of year reports.

While developing their ability to work in groups and teams,  pupils receive at Pré Fleuri, individual and personalized support that takes into account their specific needs and personal rhythm. They are also encouraged in their learning, by sessions that stimulate their capacity to work effectively in groups.

During the themed meals and assemblies, pupils have multiple opportunities to make presentations to an attentive and caring audience.
