Verbier International School (VIS)

The Program

Pre-school

The Pre-School offers a bilingual (French/English) programme with the emphasis on learning through play and outdoor activities. The children go on small, local expeditions together.

At Pre-School children receive an enriched and stimulating curriculum from 2 years old which includes Music, P.E. and Forest School. Children are encouraged to learn at VIS with our Learning Through Play curriculum which fosters curiosity and exploration of the world around them.

We also have an extra special activity for each day of the week. On ‘Messy Mondays’ the children will focus on learning through sensory play. On ‘Tasty Tuesdays’ the class will cook or bake together. On ‘Wellie Wednesdays’ there will be outdoor learning fun whatever the weather! On ‘Topic Thursdays’ the children will venture out in the Forest School focussing on specific topics and finally on ‘Fun Fridays’ to end the week with fun and independent learning.

Primary School

VIS primary students develop a love of learning through a strong foundational core programme. Children learn through experiential and playful classes with caring and dedicated teachers. There is a strong emphasis on the concept of inclusion and family.

Children follow a broad, balanced and creative programme following the English National Curriculum. The aim is to build self-confidence, perseverance, and independence, giving children the skills they need to succeed.

The young students benefit from a healthy and active lifestyle with a wide choice of sports and excursions. We value and encourage curiosity and seek to develop a risk-taking learning culture.

The children are involved in events in the local community and further afield and we celebrate success, progress, and attainment every day in all areas of school life. Above all, we foster a safe, happy environment, where everyone is valued and respected.

Secondary School

From a gentle, supportive entry in Year 7 to GCSEs in Year 11, VIS Secondary students are grounded in a thorough preparation for success in exams, while also encouraging students to strive for excellence beyond the classroom.
The VIS Secondary School offers a balanced curriculum that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and open-mindedness to the cultures and beliefs of others. Student progress is carefully monitored and students are supported to achieve not only by their subject teachers, but also by their class teachers who act as the key link between school and parents, the active presence of our Headmaster in the day-to-day lives of our students, and key support staff.
As an accredited Cambridge International School, VIS offers the opportunity to prepare students for and to sit the Cambridge IGCSEs through Years 10 and 11, while Years 7-9 follow the English National Curriculum, which provides our KS3 pupils solid foundation for their future studies.

There is flexibility in the timetable as we encourage each student to take appropriate challenges that meet their own goals. Core subjects include Maths, English, all Sciences, Digital Literacy, French, German, Spanish, History, Economics, Geography and Religious Studies.
