Living in the residences on Franklin University Switzerland’s campus is an important part of the educational experience. It is a great opportunity to make your first friends on campus and adjust to living alone. Most of the rooms have kitchenettes or a common kitchen shared among all residents of the resident hall. They all have bathrooms; so you’ll have your privacy and will be able to take responsibility for you own living space.

There are seven residence halls at Franklin, and each one has a trained Resident Assistant. The RA is your go-to person for questions or problems. They are equipped with first-aid kits, toolboxes, and are trained to handle any and all situations that students might face. There are two RAs on duty every night. During their duty shifts, also known as ‘rounds’, the RAs walk through each residence hall to ensure things are safe and sound. In addition, RAs organize events and activities to do on campus and around town. They strive to provide students a truly spectacular Franklin experience through everything that they do.

Of course, it’s important to respect your neighbors, so you’ll need to read and sign the Housing Agreement, as well as follow the Code of Conduct. The rules are there so everyone can focus on their studies and do their best in classes. Furthermore, Franklin strives to respect the local communities’ rules and norms.

No matter which type of room and residence you live in, you will see that Franklin’s residences are the perfect environment for writing your own story.

Dining Options

From regional and international specialties, Franklin’s dining halls serve a variety of options that can satisfy any appetite. In addition to preparing fresh and tasty food for students, the dining halls provide gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian alternatives. For students with allergies, simply double check with the food services staff that the food is safe for you to eat. The dining halls accept cash and credit cards, but ultimately the Falcon Card is the best way to ensure both convenience and lower costs for students dining on-campus.

The North Campus Dining Hall

The North Campus Dining Hall is a cafeteria-style dining room offering a wide variety of local and international cuisine. All food that is served in the North Campus Dining Hall is freshly prepared every day. This dining hall offers a full American breakfast including scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, pancakes, bagels, and fresh fruit. Lunch menus include a soup of the day, salad bar options, and entrees including pasta and other grains, meats or fish, and vegetables. It is a great place to meet between classes on the North Campus, whether to study with friends or just grab a quick coffee on the go.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

Full American Breakfast 8:00 am – 10:00 am (No Breakfast on Wednesdays)

Lunch 11:00 am – 3:00 pm (Kitchen closes at 2:45 pm)

Wednesday 11:00 am – 3:00 pm (Kitchen closes at 2:45 pm)

The Dining Hall is closed in the evenings, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. The Grotto is open seven days a week while the school is in session—see hours below.

The Grotto

The Grotto, Franklin University Switzerland’s “grab and go” eatery, located on the Kaletsch Campus is a place to rejuvenate in a relaxing laid-back atmosphere. At the Grotto, you can purchase coffee, drinks, snacks and a wide variety of other food items, including burgers, veggie burgers, salads, pastas, nachos, and a daily meal plan special.

The Grotto is also available for special programming and evening events as requested and scheduled by student clubs. The Grotto offers staging, lighting and sound systems to accommodate dances, karaoke, game nights, and any other events organized by members of the Franklin Community.
