La Garenne – Villars-sur-Olon

La Garenne – Villars-sur-Olon Campus

Location: Villars-sur-Olon

Facilities

Set in the impressive alpine surroundings of Villars-sur-Ollon, at an altitude of 1300m, the campus is designed to meet the needs of all its students. Combining tradition and modernity, the well equipped buildings have been designed to encourage high-level performance and diverse activities.

The campus is centred around the main La Garenne building, an authentic yet modernised Swiss chalet. Thoughtfully designed to best serve the school community, it includes a dining room, offices and residential accommodation for the youngest students. Nearby, ‘Académia’ is the main teaching building with classrooms, a library, a base for Learning Support and a well-equipped Science Laboratory. The recently opened ‘Beau Site’ is the junior boarding house. Indoor facilities include students’ lounges, a school hall and music room, and an Art Room. Beau Site and Academia buildings have full disabled access and there is disabled access to key facilities in other buildings.

The campus has been designed to maximise opportunities for diverse activities all year round. As of September 2020, the seniors are locted at Senior Campus building “Le Roc” located in Villars. “Le Roc” shares the same values of openness, responsibility and respeсt as the La Garenne Junior School. The new location allows to create a cutting edge education facility to nurture the talents of each student, meeting their individual needs.

Each boarding house has residential staff caring for the students. Buildings are equipped with appropriate information technology, safety and security systems including CCTV and door access is controlled by wrist bracelets. Situated within a leafy garden, there is safe and easy access to benches, a sports pitch, trampolines, table-tennis tables, table football, swings, outdoor play equipment and playhouses.

Girls and boys have separate sleeping areas, with bright comfortable bedrooms, all with superb mountain views. Two to four students share a room, each student having their own desk and cupboard for personal belongings. Junior rooms include an en suite bathroom. Bedrooms are a place for children to relax, enjoy reading or listening to music. Friendly house staff clean and maintain the bedrooms and bathrooms daily, and encourage students to take responsibility for the tidiness and organisation in their rooms. In the changing rooms on the ground floor, each student has a locker for outdoor clothing and sports equipment. Student lounges with age-appropriate books, toys and TV are popular for chilling quietly or socialising with peers.
