MA in Communications Management

About

The Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communications Management is intended for aspiring young professionals or mid-career managers currently working in or transitioning to a communications-related field. It is relevant for those who are seeking a catalyst to higher managerial responsibilities or those seeking to reorient their career.

This MA is designed to include courses from both Media Communications and Business Management, to bridge the gap between these approaches, creating a distinctive profile for graduates entering or advancing in the job market.

This MA prepares students for the polyvalent role of communications manager. It combines a deep understanding of the strategic function of communications within organisations with the people and project management skills usually learned in an MBA. During the MA in Communications Management, you will:

• Learn how to communicate strategically and effectively with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders including customers, journalists, shareholders, competitors, donors, employees and volunteers.
• Learn key communication theories and analyze how the media – including the latest technologies such as AI – shape society and culture.
• Apply project management skills in a real-world setting to experience how corporate communications (public relations, internal communications, advertising and marketing) work together to achieve organizational objectives.
• Learn about the legal policy environment in which communicators work and debate key ethical issues facing communication professionals.
• Develop critical thinking and analytical skills by conducting your own personal research project on a topic of your choice related to the media and communications.
