Our fourth installment of our Spotlight Series is focusing on one of our favourite subjects – food! Are you interested in running a professional kitchen? Or would you like to learn the skills needed to give The Great British Bake Off some competition? Switzerland offers some brilliant culinary schools for you to choose from:
The Showstopper – Culinary Arts Academy Switzerland
A range of courses are available from a Swiss Grand Diploma (a collection of shorter courses) to a Bachelor’s degree. This is the only one of the culinary schools to offer a specialisation in Vegetarian cuisine. Alternatively focus on the sweet side with Pastry & Chocolate. After finishing in the semi-final’s of the Great British Bake Off, Selasi Gbormittah chose to perfect his baking skills here.
The Technician – IMI
This 3 year Bachelor degree focuses on a 70% theory – 30% practical split. Awarded in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University, students graduate with two internships. Plus they are prepared for today’s marketplace with the skills they need inside and outside of a professional kitchen setup.
The Welcomer – BHMS
With 8 intakes a year, this BA culinary arts degree is offered in conjunction with Robert Gordon University. It is also accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the American Culinary Federation Foundation.
A range of two week masterclasses are also available for anyone with previous kitchen experience. These are the perfect toppers for anyone looking to perfect their skills.
