Camp Suisse

About

International summer camp takes place in the alpine village of Les Crosets. The village is situated at an altitude of 1,670 metres, in the French-speaking Valais region of Switzerland.

With a guarantee of five full-day excursions to some of Switzerland’s most breath-taking places in every two week camp session, plus a minimum of 15 hours of intensive language tuition, endless adventure activities and sports coaching, our summer camp program really is the experience of a lifetime.

Each summer Julie, Richard and the Camp Suisse team welcome campers from over 35 different countries to the spectacular Swiss Alps in a safe and secure environment.

Camp programmes are divided by age, ensuring each age group has the relevant supervision, guidance and age-appropriate activities.

Junior Campers. 7 – 11 YEARS OLD

The programme aims to introduce campers to the residential camp environment with the three key elements of Camp Suisse in mind: safety, learning and FUN!

With smaller groups, age specific activities and low camper to staff ratio, the younger half of the camp is a closely supervised journey of discovery for our camp enthusiasts; new friends, new activities, new environments and new experiences.

Junior campers follow a set programme of activities and excursions throughout their stay at Camp Suisse. Each activity session is carefully planned and prepared, ensuring the session can be tailored to meet the personal needs of individual campers. In addition to our in-house adventurous activities such as mountain biking, climbing and archery, other highlights of the programme include the glacier excursion and husky dog sledding, the Adventure Labyrinth maze, the overnight stay in our Alpine refuge and banana boating on Lake Geneva.

Senior Campers

Our programme for older campers allows them to explore their talents and grow as young adults amongst like-minded friends from around the world.

12 – 14 YEARS OLD

Campers are allocated to a group with 8-10 other campers for the duration of their stay. This allows each camper to experience camp life with more discreet supervision than the younger campers and to focus more on developing friendships with like-minded youngsters from around the world.

This stage of the Camp Suisse programme is very much a journey of self-discovery, developing new skills and forming friendships that will extend far beyond their time at camp. Highlights of the programme include the high ropes course, the chocolate factory, mountain biking, bushcraft and the all important visit to the glacier.

15 – 17 YEARS OLD

As part of the most senior age group at Camp Suisse we aim to allow these campers to experience camp life with slightly less supervision and to take on more personal responsibility in their day-to-day lives. As campers progress through the age groups there is greater focus on becoming a role model to the rest of the camp and self-managing time and responsibilities. The Yellow Group are key to the fantastic atmosphere at Camp Suisse. They provide a crucial link between staff and younger campers.

Activities for our oldest campers are adapted to be more challenging whilst still recognising the importance of meeting the individual needs of individual campers. Whilst much of the programme is fixed to ensure campers have the true Camp Suisse experience, campers do get to choose certain sessions from our fantastic range of adventurous activities. This allows campers to further develop skills in their favourite activities or to explore different or new activities if they wish.

In addition to the ever-popular glacier excursion, the high ropes course and kayaking, the visit to the Montreux Jazz Festival and the overnight expedition are favourite excursions amongst our Yellow Group. The Yellows also benefit from a dinner and dance night at our local restaurant.
